Personal Information

Texarkana Oil and Gas Law and Real Estate Lawyer: Charles A. Morgan

A partner at Dunn, Nutter, & Morgan since 1977, Chuck Morgan's roots in the oil and gas industry go back to the east Texas oil boom of the 1930's, in which his father, his mother, and his uncle were all involved. He has lived in Texarkana for most of his life, and is deeply committed to the community.

Mr. Morgan earned a BBA degree from Baylor University in 1973, and a JD degree from Baylor Law school in 1973. He was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1973 and the Arkansas Bar in 1974. He appears in front of the US Supreme Court, US Tax Court, US District Court in the Eastern District of Texas, and US District Court in the Western District of Arkansas.

As early as high school, Mr. Morgan liked the experience of thinking on his feet, and he was drawn to debate and similar activities. When he became an attorney, however, he found himself more interested in the technical, problem-solving aspects of the law, pulling the pieces of the puzzle together, examining titles, and drafting documentation related to real estate and oil and gas transactions.

Mr. Morgan is board certified in Residential Real Estate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. In addition to the Texas and Arkansas State Bars, he is a member of the American, Texas, Arkansas, Northeast Texas, Southwest Arkansas, and Texarkana Bar Associations, and Phi Alpha Delta. He is a Fellow in the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and a Real Property Oil and Gas Fellow in the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. He has served as chairman or member in the following sections of the American, Texas, and Arkansas Bar Associations: Natural Resources Law; Economics Law; Real Property, Probate and Trust Law; and Computer Law Section Council.

An interest in engineering led Mr. Morgan to begin helping his colleagues become more computer literate by designing templates and spreadsheets and offering instruction. He is active in his church, and he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, following college basketball, and woodworking. He is the author of numerous articles for the Petroleum Landsman's Association and other organizations.

Please contact Mr. Morgan to discuss your real estate or oil and gas question.
