Personal Information

Texarkana Trial Lawyer: James L. Cook

A native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, James L. Cook earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1979, and a JD degree with honors from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law in 2001. He was subsequently admitted to the State Bar of Arkansas and the State Bar of Texas, and began practicing law in civil litigation and appellate work at Dunn, Nutter, & Morgan in 2001.

In the years between earning his BS degree in medical technology and entering law school, Mr. Cook managed hospital labs and blood banks, specializing in blood banking issues. He put off his life-long goal of earning a law degree until his first child was through college. He counts on his medical experience and training to help him effectively represent clients in injury-related lawsuits. His skills and background allow him to evaluate medical records and identify strong and weak points in his cases.

Mr. Cook practices law in the Arkansas State Courts, the Texas State Courts, US District Court in the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, and US District Court in the Eastern District of Texas. In addition to the state bars of Arkansas and Texas, he is a member of the Texarkana Bar Association, the Texarkana Young Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, and the American Inns of Court.

He is a member of the Rotary Club, and he is a volunteer helping to train court-appointed special advocates for children removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect. Down to earth and accessible, Mr. Cook enjoys relating to people and applying his varied life experiences to the practice of law. Please contact him for help with your legal concern.
